Deputy Premier: Qatar supports Iran’s rights within international law


Qatar’s First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani said the State of Qatar is confident the nuclear issue of Iran must be solved according to international law. This came during a press conference, held on Tuesday 23 May 2006 by His Excellency and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. H E the Deputy Prime Minister expressed hope concerned parties would coordinate efforts to achieve peace and calm down tensions in the region, pointing out that countries of the Gulf, including Qatar, should seek stability in the region because they no longer wish to get mingled in new wars and tensions......Read more

Energy, education main focus of Asian meet


Issues like energy and education are expected to figure prominently in the discussions at the 5th Ministerial Meet for Asia Co-operation Dialogue starting at Four Seasons Hotel today. Briefing journalists on the eve of the three-day meet, Srivihok Vitavas, ambassador affiliated to the ministry of foreign affairs, Thailand, who is also the co-ordinator of the forum said as many as 19 areas of co-operation, including poverty alleviation among the member countries will be discussed during the meeting. .....Read more
