The Press

1-  Media Centre

A media centre for the ICNRD-6 will be set up in a tent in the internal garden of the Conferences Centre where the Conference sessions will be held.

This media centre will receive the official broadcast of Qatar TV. It is possible to view the broadcasting via screens at news room, press offices, radio and TV rooms, along with special screens of the conference. The common main activities and some other important activities will be televised.

2-  Registration of Press Members

To secure journalistic coverage of the ICNRD-6, members of the press are requested to officially apply for accreditation (as attached). So, they are to bring three 2X2 cm size photographs and a letter of assignment of their employer. Such accreditation is subject to by-laws in force, e.g. fees, in the State of Qatar.

Completed application forms are to be sent directly to the Foreign Information Agency on fax +974 4847788.

Accredited representatives of the press are to produce their accreditation papers where/whenever there is a need, since they have the right to access to the Media Centre and the conference during the working hours in order to cover the activities of the Conference.

Their bags, equipments and belongings are subject to security checks before entering the venues of the Conference.

3-  Distribution of Accreditation Papers

Accreditation Papers and special ID cards for members of journalistic complexes will be issued to those who have connection with the Media Centre of the ICNRD-6 by the Information Committee and Foreign Information Agency through: www.mofa.gov.qa & www.icnrd6.com

4-  Accommodation

The Organizing Committee will issue a list of names of Hotels recommended for the residence of the press members. So, those who like to make a reservation at Hotels are to follow instructions stated in chapter eight of this book.

5-  The General Hall of Information

Personal “working stations” that are furnished with phones, fax machines, computer connections, internet and other terminal services will be provided by the zone designated for press members. In addition to this, such working stations will be supplied with personal computers with access to internet, printers, fax and phone.

The Information Hall shall provide the following services:

-     Sending and receiving faxes via the system of PIN number which is used for phone main services

-     Numbering photographs and negatives

-     Public phone boxes that work with Q-Cards

-     Photocopying

-     Screens in connection with: (1) internal circuit for the sake of televised coverage, and (2) main TV networks

-     Special areas with required services for radio and TV coverage

6-  General Data

-     Qatar Radio and Television Corporation shall offer all technical services and reservations for areas of radio and TV

-     Media Centre shall be provided with rooms for press conferences

-     A special location will be reserved for studios and interviews
